With so many Essential Oil Companies and so many Essential Oils on the market, its important to know who you can trust!! Because, like any other products, some are better than others! Essential Oils, similar to meats, have varying grades. There are Grade D oils, which are Synthetic Oils, created in labs and ones that do not contain any pure oils at all. Grade C oils, which are Extended and Altered Oils, ones extended through the addition of synthetic chemicals and are normally used in fragrances. Grade B oils, which are Natural (Organic) and Certified Oils, which pass oil standards but may have none or just a few therapeutic compounds. Finally, we have Grade A Oils such as Young Living Oils. Grade A oils are Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils, the purest essential oils you will find! They have complete profiles containing all the therapeutic properties & constituents of each plant that deliver all of the benefits we want from oils! These are the oils that are directly distilled from the plant and immediately bottled up- no extra ingredients, additives, preservatives, or fragrances added. With Grade A Oils, you will experience the raw, unfiltered benefits of each and every plant and all they can do for our bodies!
The thing is, plants have been used for centuries for their healing benefits, but somewhere along the line, we, as a society, reached a point where it seemed smarter and more cost efficient to alter them for mass re-production. Personally, when I reach for an Essential Oil, I want to feel confident in its purity and integrity.
Four years ago when I started using essential oils, I confidently chose to purchase them from Young Living because of their transparency. Not many companies are completely and totally transparent about their products and ingredients, but YL is. I’ve compiled a list of reasons why I exclusively use Young Living Oils:
plant material is grown on corporately-owned farms OR carefully vetted partner farms (ones you CAN visit!)
sustainable farming and sourcing practices, providing the purest oils
hand-weeded fields and ZERO use of pesticides
low pressure and low temperature distillation, without the use of solvents or synthetic chemicals
oils that retain all their natural constituents and therapeutic properties
rigorous testing on each batch by internal labs and third-party facilities
oils that are carefully reviewed through every step of production in order to meet or exceed industry safety and purity standards (beyond organic!)
state-of-the-art distillation methods… AND the best part… if the oils do not meet these high standards they are rejected and not bottled as a Young Living product.
